The Morning ‘Oli – A traditional Hawaiian chant that welcomes the day. The chanter will speak in Hawaiian and interpret the chant. Guests are asked to meet at the Concierge desk and then will be escorted to the Ocean Lawn. Conducted by Mea Makamai staff.
Sandcastle Building Contest – Enjoy the thrill of competition as families enjoy sand castle building on the famous Waikiki Beach. Guests will enjoy a friendly competition of building their own sand castle using sand tools and their own creativity. Families are asked to sign up at the Concierge desk (maximum 16 persons or 4-5 families). Meet at the Tower Lounge. Conducted by Concierges Kristal Kikumoto and Seth Eason.
Hawaiian Storytelling in the Coconut Grove – Participate in an engaging evening of cultural stories told by our cultural specialist Kehaulani Kam. She will enthrall you with the history of Helumoa, the very grounds on which the Royal Hawaiian is located. The storytelling will take place around a fire pit. Sign up at the Concierge desk. Maximum 30 participants.
Waikiki Beach Boys “Talk Story” Session – Meet with the legends of Waikiki Beach telling the stories of Beach Boys of years past who were able to capture the imaginations of people around the world. Please sign up at the Concierge desk. Meet at the Royal Tower Lounge.
Waikiki Beach Services – Truly enjoy the experience of Waikiki Beach that has been enjoyed for years. Our Beach Boy service gives a nod to our rich surf culture. The Waikiki Beach Boy has been a part of social life in the islands since 1901. Services (at a cost) include: surf lessons, outrigger canoe tours, stand up paddling, catamaran rides, and beach boy valet (a personal Beach Boy to assist you with all of your beach activities). Located on the pool deck.
Beginner’s Yoga Class – Participate in a guided yoga session on the Ocean Lawn fronting Waikiki Beach. Sign up at the Concierge desk. Maximum 15 participants.
Hula and Tahitian Lessons – Learn hula and Tahitian dance on the sacred grounds of Helumoa, where Hawaiian Royalty once lived. Guests will learn the style called Hula auana (a more modern style of hula) and some basic Tahitian moves. Families are asked to sign up at the Concierge desk. Meet at the Coconut Lanai.
Shell and Floral Lei Making – Learn the arts of floral and shell lei making. In Hawaiian tradition, these garlands were worn by ancient Hawaiians to beautify themselves and distinguish themselves from others. No sign up required. Meet at the Coconut Lanai.
‘Ukulele lessons – Learn the basics of Ukulele playing. The ‘ukulele is commonly associated with music from Hawaii and is attributed to master Portuguese craftsmen. The name roughly translates to “jumping flea.” Sign up at the Concierge desk. Maximum 15 participants. Meet at the Coconut Lanai.
The Royal Hawaiian History Tour – Take a tour of The Royal Hawaiian and learn some fascinating stories of the most iconic resort in the world. Answer some of the fun questions like “Why is the resort pink?” Open to Royal Hawaiian guests and the public.
